The following positions within the Oregon Society of Health and Physical Educators (Oregon SHAPE) are open for application:

President-Elect

Position Type: Appointed, Voting Board Position
Term: 4 Year (1 Year as President-Elect, 2 Year as President, 1 Year as Past-President)

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve on the Oregon SHAPE Board of Directors as President-Elect for a one-year term.
  • Act for the President in their absence and, in the event of the President’s death or resignation, succeed the President for the unexpired term.
  • Chair the Honorary Life Award and Additional Awards Committees, along with other committees designated by the President and approved by the Board of Directors.
  • Attend the SHAPE America National Conference and serve as a Western District SHAPE America Assembly Delegate.
  • Serve as a voting member of the Board of Directors.
  • Chair the Nominating Committee and serve on the Executive Committee.

Qualifications

  • Hold Oregon SHAPE membership for at least three years immediately preceding nomination.
  • Hold Professional membership in Oregon SHAPE during the year of nomination.
  • Demonstrate interest in Oregon SHAPE through service to the organization during at least three years of membership
  • Maintain SHAPE America membership during the two years serving as Oregon SHAPE President.

Treasurer

Position Type: Appointed, Non-Voting Board Position
Term: 3 Year

Key Responsibilities

  • Chair the Finance Committee.
  • Review financial reports and bank reconciliations.
  • Monitor budget performance.
  • Support financial controls and accountability.
  • Work with the Executive Director, bookkeeper, and CPA.
  • Report financial information and concerns to the Board.

Ideal Candidate: Someone who is organized, trustworthy, comfortable reviewing financial information, and interested in nonprofit financial oversight.

VP of Physical Education

Position Type: Elected Board Position, Voting Position
Term: 2 Year

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent Physical Education professionals.
  • Promote quality Physical Education.
  • Support professional development and advocacy.
  • Participate in Annual Conference planning.
  • Coordinate Health. Moves. Minds. activities.
  • Collaborate with other Oregon SHAPE leaders.

Ideal Candidate: A Physical Education professional who is passionate about quality PE, professional growth, and advocacy.

VP of Adapted Physical Education

Position Type: Elected Board Position, Voting Position
Term: 3 Year

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent Adapted Physical Education professionals.
  • Advocate for inclusive and accessible Physical Education.
  • Promote professional development and resources.
  • Support Adapted PE conference programming.
  • Collaborate with the VP of Physical Education and other leaders.
  • Support advocacy and outreach.

Higher Education Representative

Position Type: Elected Board Position
Term: 2 Year

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent higher education professionals within Oregon SHAPE.
  • Serve as a member of the Conference Program Planning Committee.
  • Support collaboration between higher education and K–12 professionals.
  • Promote professional development, networking, and leadership opportunities.
  • Encourage faculty and student engagement with Oregon SHAPE.
  • Collaborate with other Oregon SHAPE leaders.

Ideal Candidate: A faculty member, teacher educator, or higher education professional who is interested in strengthening connections between higher education and the Health and Physical Education profession.

Student Representative

Position Type: Elected Board Position, Voting Position
Term: 1 Year

Key Responsibilities

  • Represent Oregon SHAPE student members.
  • Participate as a voting member of the Board of Directors.
  • Serve as a member of the Conference Program Planning Committee.
  • Support student engagement, leadership, and professional development.
  • Promote Oregon SHAPE membership and opportunities for students.
  • Collaborate with other Oregon SHAPE leaders.

Ideal Candidate: A current Oregon SHAPE student member who is interested in leadership, professional development, advocacy, and representing student voices.

Media & Communications Coordinator

Position Type: Appointed, Non-Voting Position
Appointment: Annual appointment or contract
Monthly Stipend: Dependent on experience and qualifications

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage website and social media content.
  • Coordinate email communications and newsletters.
  • Promote programs, events, membership, and advocacy.
  • Develop and maintain a communications calendar.
  • Coordinate public announcements and outreach.
  • Work with the Board, Executive Director, and committees.

Ideal Candidate: Someone who enjoys writing, social media, website content, digital communications, and helping an organization connect with its members and community.
